Segurança reforçada nos bancos em Chipre

Depois de 11 dias fechados, os bancos no Chipre abriram portas esta quinta-feira, rodeados de fortes medidas de segurança. Vários seguranças, alguns armados, foram destacados para garantir a segurança nas agências.

Para evitar uma corrida aos balcões e controlar a fuga de capitais, o Chipre impôs uma série de restrições: Os levantamentos só podem ser feitos até 300 euros por dia, as transacções com cartão no estrangeiro estão limitadas a 5 mil euros por mês e quem viajar para fora do país não pode levar mais do que 3 mil euros em dinheiro. Limites que vão para já vigorar a partir desta quinta-feira e durante 4 dias.

A abertura dos bancos deu-se às 12h locais (10h da manhã em Lisboa). Poucas foram as agências que não cumpriram os horários neste que foi o momento mais aguardado pela população e adiado por duas vezes.

Nico Anastasiades, Presidente do Chipre, agradeceu aos cipriotas a maturidade demonstrada esta quinta feira, via twitter, "Gostaria de agradecer ao povo cipriota a maturidade e a calma que mostraram na interacção com os bancos cipriotas".
