Esta primeira tempestade de outono já deixou sem eletricidade mais de 10 mil pessoas na região francesa de Bretagne, que está a ser afetada por ventos de mais de 133 quilómetros por hora.

No Reino Unido, as autoridades alertaram para ventos fortes que poderão causar a queda de árvores, danos em edifícios, cortes de eletricidade e perturbações nos transportes depois de a tempestade ter atingido a costa sudoeste na noite de domingo.

Fortes chuvas (entre 20 e 40 milímetros, segundo as previsões) começaram a registar-se na noite de domingo no Reino Unido e deverão durar entre seis e nove horas, arriscando a ocorrência de inundações, sendo acompanhadas de ventos entre os 100 e os 130 quilómetros por hora.

O sul do Reino Unido está sob alerta laranja, o terceiro mais elevado numa escala de quatro níveis.

Um jovem de 14 anos que se encontrava numa praia de Sussex, na costa sul de Inglaterra, estava hoje desaparecido.

Várias empresas suspenderam hoje os serviços de comboios em Londres, pelo menos até às 09:00, e os aeroportos da cidade anunciaram perturbações do tráfego. O aeroporto de Heathrow prevê a anulação de cerca de 30 voos.

O comboio Eurostar não deverá circular até às 07:00 e várias empresas anularam travessias de barco no canal da Mancha e para a Irlanda.
