O funeral do Presidente da Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, tem início marcado para hoje pelas 15h30 locais (11h em Caracas), na Academia Militar de Caracas, onde o corpo permanece em câmara ardente, anunciou o governo, esta quinta-feira.

O Governo da Venezuela anunciou, entretanto, que o corpo do Presidente Hugo Chávez ficará "embalsamado eternamente" numa urna de cristal.

"Quero dizer ao povo e ao mundo (...) que se decidiu preparar o corpo do comandante Presidente, embalsamá-lo, para que fique exposto eternamente, para que o povo possa tê-lo ali", afirmou o vice-Presidente, Nicolas Maduro, numa declaração emitida pela televisão estatal.

A partir da Academia Militar, onde se encontra, em câmara ardente, o corpo de Chávez, Maduro indicou que os restos mortais do Presidente vão ser levados para o Quartel da Montanha, que foi usado como posto de comando no golpe de Estado contra Carlos Andrés Pérez em 1992.

"Assim como está Ho Chi Minh, como está Lenine, como está Mao Tse Tung, ficará o corpo do nosso comandante embalsamado no Museu da Revolução, de maneira especial para que possa estar numa urna de cristal e o nosso povo possa tê-lo para sempre", assinalou.

"O funeral de Estado com a presença de, pelo menos, 30 chefes de Governo e de Estado do nosso continente e do mundo", disse o Presidente interino, Nicolas Maduro, em declarações transmitidas pela televisão estatal.

Delegações de mais de meia centena de países são esperadas em Caracas, onde chegou, entretanto, a Presidente do Brasil, Dilma Rousseff, e o ex-presidente brasileiro Lula da Silva, o chefe de Estado cubano, Raul Castro, bem como o equatoriano, Rafael Correa, entre outros.

Ahmadinejad presente

O Presidente do Irão, Mahmud Ahmadinejad, chegou hoje a Caracas para o funeral do homólogo venezuelano Hugo Chávez, que era o principal aliado de Teerão na América Latina.

"Desejo expressar as minhas condolências mais profundas ao povo venezuelano e a todos os povos do mundo, em particular ao latino-americano", declarou o Presidente iraniano à sua chegada a Caracas.

Mahmud Ahmadinejad lembra Chávez como o "símbolo de todos os que procuram a justiça, o amor e a paz no mundo".

Portas já está em Caracas

O ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros, Paulo Portas, chegou, esta quinta-feira, a Caracas onde representará o Estado português no funeral do Presidente venezuelano, Hugo Chávez, marcado para hoje.

Paulo Portas chegou ao Aeroporto Internacional Simón Bolívar de Maiquetía, a 20 quilómetros a norte da capital, pelas 16:00 locais (20:30 de Lisboa), partindo de seguida para um hotel da capital, onde chegou pelas 19:00 locais (00:30 de sexta-feira em Lisboa), uma viagem demorada devido ao intenso trânsito de Caracas.

O ministro português deverá ser hoje recebido por uma comitiva oficial no hotel pelas 07:30 locais (12:00 em Lisboa), a qual acompanhá-lo-á até à Academia Militar, onde se encontra em câmara ardente o corpo do mandatário venezuelano.

Maduro toma posse

Nicolás Maduro, vice-presidente da Venezuela que assumiu a liderança após a morte de Hugo Chávez na terça-feira, vai ser empossado hoje como presidente interino, anunciou, esta quinta-feira, o presidente do parlamento, Diosdado Cabello.

"Queremos convocar uma sessão especial para o juramento do companheiro Nicolás Maduro como Presidente interino da República", declarou Cabello, ao canal estatal de televisão.

A cerimónia, que vai decorrer na Academia Militar, está marcada para as 19:00 (23:30 em Lisboa), indicou o presidente da Assembleia Nacional da Venezuela.
