Um polícia sofreu queimaduras no tórax devido ao impacto de um 'cocktail molotov', tendo sido transportado "com urgência" para o hospital, indicou a Polícia Militar do Rio de Janeiro na sua conta Twitter.

Um fotógrafo da agência noticiosa francesa AFP e outro do Globo foram atingidos na cabeça com objetos, enquanto um manifestante foi ferido na perna por uma bala de borracha, segundo a Polícia Militar, citada pela agência Efe.

Os agentes detiveram três pessoas com 'cocktails molotov', uma por atirar  pedras contra os agentes e uma quinta por desacatos. 

Além disso, foram detidas, por incitamento à violência, duas pessoas  que transmitiam em direto o protesto pela Internet. 

A polícia brasileira dispersou com recurso a balas de borracha e a gás  lacrimogéneo os manifestantes na sequência dos confrontos, ocorridos numa  das ruas bloqueadas pelos efetivos para impedir a sua chegada ao Palácio,  sede do governo regional,  

Segundo a rede Globo, um dos seus veículos foi destruído pelos manifestantes  mais violentos, que em outros protestos também atacaram carros de grandes  meios de comunicação social. 

O protesto, que juntou cerca de 1.500 pessoas, segundo dados da polícia,  concentrou manifestantes de natureza diversa, desde opositores ao governador  do Rio de Janeiro, Sérgio Cabral, até representantes da luta pelos direitos  dos homossexuais. Um dos momentos tensos ocorreu próximo do Largo do Machado,  ainda distante do Palácio Guanabara, quando um grupo ateou fogo a um boneco  representando o governador Sérgio Cabral. 

Outro grupo, ligado a organizações que lutam contra a homofobia, realizaram  um "beijaço gay", enquanto um pequeno grupo de atrizes se manifestou com  os seios à mostra para chamar à atenção para questões como o uso da pílula  anticoncecional e o aborto. 

Ambos os protestos não foram vistos pelo pontífice nem pelas autoridades,  que estavam na sede do Governo do Rio de Janeiro. 

O grupo avançou até ao Palácio de Guanabara, mas foi 'travado' por um  bloqueio da polícia.
